The 50/50 rule:
I have come to the conclusion that whatever question that we ask people here; they seem to understand about half of what we ask and in turn we understand about half of what they answer. It take a good four times around a question to get even close to any useful information… if you have two people it sometimes makes it faster… sometimes not.
1/2 of 50% rule, then. If it takes 4 times to go around, that makes the most sense anyway since 50% on one side times 50% on the other is 25% and 25% 4 times is 100% … considering you’re going for 100%, which is never really the case. A satisfactory understanding is considered 100%, though. It’s usually 90% understanding. I call that the 90/10 rule, which works for LOTS of other things. Like .. the %’s of people who actually read all of the things you posted (10%) and the %’s of people who read at least something in your posts (90%) and the % of the 10% who didn’t read any of your posts who didn’t even know how to get to your blog would be either 90% or 10% depending on the friend pool you have.
person 1A = 50% understanding
person 2A = 50% understanding, but not necessarily the same 50%
person 3S = 50% understanding, and definitely not even close to the same 50% as the others
person 4S (optional, but I would imagine in such cultures, moving in pairs is more the norm than singular people .. who would likely be on their way to seeing another person and in no mood to play charades.) = 50%
