It was sunny, but only in the low 70’s. We went to the beach and found a couple sharks’ teeth. Then we went to Sharky’s the restaurant. It was a nice time. Then on the way home we stopped at a coffee shop. Apparently there is folgers in the house here and Marlo threw that away at my house so I know it’s not her favorite. We go to the coffee shop and she gets a coffee. It is the bottom of the thermos so the persons tells her she can get a refill… I get a tasty cherry treat… we drink her coffee and she gets a refill. She takes a couple of sips as we sit in the sun and read our books. She get bored and tells me that she will be right back. No problem. I have a book, some coffee and I just had a treat. More importantly I have the car keys :> well, I finish the coffee and nearly finish my book by the time she gets back. She looks down and complains that I drank here coffee… it inform her that she has been gone more than an hour… she argues as she looks at her watch and stops as soon as she looks at it… over a hour… no biggy, like I said I was content. She has found some clothes in a store up the way that she wants to try on for me… hmmm, shopping. I am very well behaved and even helpful. The lady at the fitting room even said so. Well only after I pointed out how good I was at this… :> it is tricky business commenting on a woman who is trying on clothes… I got a gold star. Ok, I have to admit, Marlo is not a difficult woman… in this regard :> (We will see if Marlo is reading at this point, I will probably be struck If I am near enough)
Anyway we go back to the house and I take everyone to dinner. We go to an oyster house. Fried good, containers of cole slow, that kind of place except for the fact that their grouper and steak were very good. We had 2 dozen oysters, escargot, and good meals. There were some loud obnoxious people singing to everyone and no it was not us.
We get back and take a nice hot tub and what not. I do laundry in last preparation for the big trek. Marlo prints her boarding pass, get directions to the rent-a-car place. I review maps and enter my first stop into the GPS.
So I am as prepared as I will be for my trek. Tom is actually leaving Wednesday morning for Miami, so I will have already walked my first full day. We will have a check point the. I have no doubt that I will continue. Now there is this one little nagging issue that I have. The GPS tells me that is it going to take me 8 hours to travel 18 miles. That is 2.25 miles per hour. If that is as fast as I walk then it is going to take me 8 days to get to Miami. Also I think I am going to Fort Lauderdale instead of Miami… depending on the flights…
