First leg

January 3rd, 2009

Ok, here we are 27,077 feet cruising at 391 miles an hour.  I know this how?  Well I have my GPS stuck to the window in the airplane :>  Big fun.  We stopped at the bar in the airport and hung out with some travels.  We found out that one guy that was going to Portland Oregon did not have to pay for his bag AND he brought a bunch of carpentry tools.  We  got whacked $15 a piece for our ski bags even though Marlo checked it out and did not think we should.  She called while we were “relaxing” at the bar.  She found out that indeed they were supposed to be free…  She is going to mail in the receipts…  She had a big beer and had to pee twice so far on the plane :>  BUT in doing so found an empty row at the back of the plane where we got to have some room.
She told the flight attendant that I was a pain in the butt because I thanked the gate guy for something… hmmmm….  One of us is got this travel thing down.  So far I have supplied her with ear plugs (two different sets because she did not like the first pair) and headphones that I “saved “from our last flight.  They did not pass any out on this flight…  I am hungy…  I have to check to see if they feed us anything on the next flight.  The next flight is actually on the same plane…
We had the usual ear-piercing airport cart go by… arg, and the real reason for the earplugs are these some humanoids that make lots of noise and these other people yattering in some foreign language…
I loaded the Rosetta Stone on eeepc (this little pc) so we can practice French for our March trip.  I don’t want to be the irritating one speaking a foreign language on that trip….  But will be :>
I just checked the itinerary …  no food on this plane… we tried to upgrade to first class but apparently we had the wrong letter in the “class” field and could not upgrade…  what-up-with-that????  It’s not like we asked for it for free…. Hmmmm.
We have to get frequent flyer cards so we can get the miles….  I  almost forgot my extra battery and the charger for the camera!!!!!!!!  Duh!  I did know exactly where it was though….  Good thing someone did not move it :>

Middletown to East Hampton to West Hartford to Charlemont

December 21st, 2008

Dean’s party was fun, but we decided to leave in time to get to the Berkshires not to late.  We ended up arriving around 12:30.  The roads were SO bad I had to actually do the SPEED LIMIT!  Ok, only a couple of time.  We cruised up to West Hartford and grabbed the rest of her snow gear.  The trip up was not bad at all.  Ok, it was snowy, icy, and slippery, but there was not a lot of traffic.  We decided at the last minute where to stay and it has worked out just fine.  They have a hot tub, and after a day of skiing, a hot tub is nice!

Skiing was GREAT!!!  The best powder day that these people have seen in years!  There was 18 inches of powder in some places!  I forgot my ski poles so I borrowed two from the “were dropped last year” rack.  They just asked that I bring them back.  Nice.
After skiing we decided to grab a meal.  We asked around and found out that we wanted to go to Mohawk Park.  After we managed to get out of the parking lot….  it took a bit of rocking of the car.  We struck off in search of the restaurant.  I though it was to the left so we decided to go right.  We pulled in to a gas station and turned around.  There was still 6 inches of snow everywhere.  We found the place and it was not crowded.  There were about 6 locals hanging around and us.  There was one pool table with 5 people playing.  Marlo was making comments.  We ordered food and one of the guys came over and introduced himself to us.  We ended up playing some pool and eating some good food.  A few people came and went, but we ended up playing pool with Al and Jessie.  We were hanging out playin pool, havin some beer.  All and all a really good time.  Al started talking about sno-mobileing and Marlo got all excited.  She had never been before.  I had only been a couple of time.  Al has a year-round place right in Mohawk park, walking distance to the bar, and they invited us to come over a take a ride on his sleds!  They were so nice!!!  He and I bombed around, Marlo and I and He a Jess bombed around, Marlo and Jess bombed around and finally Al and I bombed around, made some new trails and bombed around some more!  It was a BLAST!!!  These were great people.   We went back to the bar and hung out some more and talked about happy people.  We are happy people.  They are happy people and we are all livin life!  They invited us back up again to stay at their place and I think that will have to take them up on it!!!  Marlo invited them up to the lake house and I hope that they come!

Thanks Al and Jess for a great time!

They we took a very very nice hot tub, watched some TV (Blogged) and went to bed…

The weather looks like it should be nice in the morning.  We plan to ski and then drive the 3:33 hour drive to Kennebunk.  That we will stay the day and night and then take off for points south.  We need to firm up those plans…

Let it snow…

December 21st, 2008

Well we are lying in beg watching the snow out the window.  We are in the Birkshires on our way on a northern Christmas Holiday trek.  We are headed to Kennebunk.  We figured that this was on the way.  It is snowing a  LOT.   AND we are going to head further north.  We have to head south for Christmas Eve day in Stonnington, CT… hmmm…  well back to sleep for a bit and then SKI!!!

Ok, that’s a lot of pictures

I made a DVD and they just fit.  It would have taken 8 CD’s…  I tried to play the DVD at my parents and both of their DVD players rejected it.  Mine liked it, so I finally looked at all the pictures…  Well I will.  The best picture so far is:

Lauren’s Host family

November 6th, 2008

We met the family. They are so nice. They welcomed us into their home, fed us good food, and we laughed and talked for hours. The funniest thing is that they thought that I was going to be quiet like Lauren!!! Ba Ha ha… Not so much huh :> The food was good, the conversations was… well … mostly in Spanish! There was a couple of conversations going most of the time with broken Spanish, broken English, and even a little french thrown in. My head hurt :> We took a couple of pictures, but I forgot to take pictures of them!!! Bummer, they were cute. they were both shorter then Marlo. More later… head hurts, no comprendia espaniol….
